Whitworths case study bespoke displays

The background

The “Do Good, Feel Good” activity would provide the shoppers at Manchester’s Arndale Shopping Centre with a sample of Whitworths “Shots” and an honesty box, with money raised given to charity. The whole activity would also be filmed on-site to capture shoppers reactions and delight at being randomly chosen for a prize when they chose to donate.

Belinda of Promotion Line who helped manage the Whitworths activity said: “The turnaround time was very tight, so with just two weeks lead time, we got cracking on with the concepts and ideas. Working to our rough sketches, Dan and the team at Advance took our ideas and turned them into reality with all the skill, attention to detail and finesse that we have come to take for granted over the many years that we have been working with them. Their ability to become an extension of our team at times like this is invaluable and they never disappoint.”

We knew that fulfilling the various requirements of the brief would need a custom approach. MDF was used to create sturdy structures that could hold a lot of product, as well as supplying a means to discreetly refill the hoppers and provide hidden storage for the samples. The products needed to be visible inside the dispenser, so bespoke cut acrylic fronts were used and all of the MDF units were fully wrapped with branded graphics to create a seamless and visually exciting wall of product sampling, fundraising and prize drawing.

To indicate that a customer had  won a prize, the whole stand would light up and flash. Secret filming took place within the two independent “towers” located at the far end of the display to capture the public’s reaction to the whole activity.

Belinda continues: “Their ability to become an extension of our team at times like this is invaluable and they never disappoint. From initial concepts, through prototype to final production and installation, Advance were an integral part of bringing our vision to life and making this piece of activity a success. An amazing achievement in just two weeks!”

The whole display was mounted on wheels to make positioning and transport hassle free and the custom cut branded headers were removable to ensure they fitted into the vans. A carpeted floor was added in brand colours, with the addition of a branded floor graphic to ensure the whole space was a branded ‘experience’ for visitors.
